Fisher Sales Competition Recap

The Gamma Nu chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon held their 6th Annual Fisher Sales Competition this past Saturday, October 17th. The FSC is a yearly sales competition in which students at the Ohio State University give mock-sales pitches to an array of sponsors and judges. This event is not only beneficial for business majors, but all majors and allows for participants to both showcase and develop their sales and professional talents. It is also a great networking opportunity for both participants and judges. Participants get the rare opportunity get get their names out in front of recruiters early within their college careers and judges get the chance to network with some of PSE and Ohio State's most talented individuals.

In attendance included 49 participants, and judges and coaches from our sponsor, Virtanza, TTi, AAA, and Emblem Athletics. Judges and sponsors included Dale Anne Davidson from the Ohio State University, Natalie Petersen, Debbie Holzkamp, and Gene Daly from Virtanza, Alex Vela and Allyson Prince from TTi, and Dena' Connar from AAA. The event was run by President, Warren Klee, Director of Corporate Engagement, Corey Jordison, several Executive Board members, and the Fisher Sales Competition committees.

In efforts to ensure safety for both all involved, the 2020 Fisher Sales Competition was held virtually this year over Zoom. Corey commented,

Setting up a virtual competition was definitely a challenge, but thankfully, I was given a great group of people to work with to be able to set up a successful competition. We were able to handle all challenges head-on and efficiently to ensure the best experience online for both our sponsors and participants.

Although proving to be a challenge to the team, they worked tirelessly to ensure that all aspects went well for everyone. The efforts of the team paid off well and both sponsors and participants enjoyed the event.

Many of our participants included recent Gamma Nu new members from this and the past semester. One of the many participants includes third-year, Jack Langenderfer, a new member from the spring of 2020. As many other participants, Jack was nervous throughout the event, especially while giving the mock sales pitches with his coach. Yet, he added that his favorite part included meeting his coach, Dena' Connar, and getting the chance to give his pitch several times with her while receiving the helpful pointers. Once it came time for the real presentation, he felt comfortable enough to give his well-worked pitch. Even while nervous, Jack did a wonderful job giving his sales pitch and secured a second-place win during this year's Fisher Sales Competition. Jack comments,

I think the Fisher Sales Competition is a great way to develop your confidence to sell yourself to people - something that is incredible important for students! This was a great opportunity to practice that.

Congratulations not only to Jack for his second-place win, but the other participants who finished in the top ten:

Although the 2020 Fisher Sales Competition was different from year's past, it still proved successful for all those involved. Thank you to the participants, sponsors/judges, and the team who made this event possible!
